Two PhD students from HUA started their secondment to UFC in Brazil

MASTER meeting at UFSC

Our partner, University of Santa Catarina in Brasil, today had a meeting focussed on MASTER, discussing multiple aspect trajectory modeling, analytics and privacy issues. We see the principal investigator Prof. Vania Bogorny with Prof. Ronaldo Dos Santos Mello presenting the project research challenges and the first results about conceptual modelling for multiple aspects trajectories.

Meeting between CNR and UFSC in Buenos Aires!

What a wonderful coincidence! Chiara Renso and Raffaele Perego (CNR) had the opportunity to meet Prof. Vania Bogorny and Prof. Luis Otavio Alvares from UFSC during their stay in Buenos Aires (Argentina). Clearly we started discussing about multiple aspects trajectories, conceptual models and many many ideas came out during our discussions! Thank you Vania and Luis for meeting us and spend very nice time in BA!

Prof. Ronaldo de Mello from UFSC is visiting CNR. Here we see Prof. Ronaldo holding a seminar about his current activity. Prof. de Mello is expert in non conventional databases like noSQL and NewSQL. He is collaborating with CNR researchers about defining multiple aspects trajectories data models.

Secondment of CNR and UVSQ to Thira

During the month of May, CNR and UVSQ held secondments to Thira (Santorini Island, Greece). During this period the seconded researchers had the opportunity to collaborate with the Municipality of Thira. The objective was to better understand the tourism issues that the island is facing: the large flows of tourists arriving everyday tend to congest the island. Additionally, the discussions focussed on the kinds of data Thira have and which additional data they potentially collect in the future. Further work has been done in discussing some preliminary ideas of research solutions that could support a better tourism monitoring. The overlapping of secondments between CNR and UVSQ gave a further opportunity for networking. Two coordination meeting has been help at the beginning and at the end of the secondment with UPRC…

Meeting at Thira with CNR and UPRC

From April 30 to May 4 we held an internal meeting among Thira, UPRC and CNR to discuss and start the work about tourism application scenario. In the picture we have Nikos from UPRC, Christallia from Thira and Chiara from CNR. During the secondments of CNR and UVSQ to Santorini, we are discussing the tourism issues that the Municipality have due to the huge flows of tourism arrivals, especially during summer, and the possible actions to be taken and data to be analysed. MASTER partners at ICDE 2018 Conference in Paris

ICDE (International Conference on Data Engineering) is one of the major conferences in the area of Data Management. The 34th edition was held in Paris between 16 and 19 April. There were more than 500 participants this year, among which four members from MASTER project. Iraklis Varlamis (HUA) has presented a paper entitled "Detecting Search and Rescue Missions from AIS Data" at DESWEB workshop. Redouane Bouhamoum (UVSQ) also presented his work entitled "Scaling Up Schema Discovery for RDF Datasets" in the same workshop. MASTER meeting at CNR with DAL and UNIVE

Today in Pisa we held a meeting between DAL, UNIVE and CNR. We see in the picture from left to right Prof. Stan Matwin (DAL), Chiara Renso (CNR), Alessandra Raffaeta' and Marta Simeoni (UNIVE). We had a fruitful discussion about sea monitoring applications from UNIVE and DAL, we identified the common problems, the techniques developed and the specific datasets used. We indeed planned the next secondments of UNIVE and CNR to DAL.

MASTER Kick-Off Meeting in Brussels

As the sign says we are very proud the EU has invested in our project! Here we are at the kick off meeting we held in Brussels on March 22nd 2018. The Kick off meeting has been a great opportunity to meet "live" the European Academic partners, our Project Officer Simona Losmanova from REA and the Independent Ethical Advisor Prof. Bettina Berendt from University of Leuven. The meeting was held in Brussels thanks to the kind hospitality of the CNR Brussels office at Rue du Trone, 98 all day of March 22nd 2018. A total of 13 people participated in the meeting from CNR, UNIVE, UPRC, UVSQ and HUA. Partner Organizations from Brazil (UFC, UFSC, PUC) and Canada (DAL) could participate via remote connection.
