The First MASTER - PRINT workshop has been held at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC) in Brazil. The PRINT project is an internationalisation project ongoing at UFSC that has several intersections with MASTER topics and partnerships. We took the opportunity to have 5 secondments at UFSC (3 from CNR and 2 from HUA) to meet altogether with local researchers and share experiences and results to drive our next collaborations. Three early stage researchers from University of Piraeus started their secondments to Pontificial University of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, hosted by Prof. Casanova and lasting one month. We can see on the picture John Nikos and Mario together with Chiara Renso (CNR) at PUC.
Beatrice Rapisarda, Raffaele, Perego and Chiara Renso from CNR and Iraklis Varlamis and Christos Sardianos from HUA started their secondment to Federal University of Santa Catarina, hosted by Vania Bogorny, Luis Otavio Alvares and Ronaldo Mello. One of the objectives of the secondment of CNR to UFSC is to build an access infrastructure for multiple aspects trajectories and study analysis methods for such trajectories
The first MASTER/Print Workshop aims at bringing together researchers that take part in the MASTER or CAPES/Print project, or people interested in the efficient management and analysis of spatio-temporal or sequential data, which is the focus of both research projects.The workshop program comprises three keynote speakers and several talks, which are detailed in the following. Each talk has one hour duration: 40 minutes for presentation and 20minutes for round table discussion.
MASTER partners are organising the Big Mobility Data Analysis workshop at the EDBT conference, to be held in Copenhagen next March 30th, 2020. BMDA workshop is as its third edition and receives papers in the broad topic of big mobility data analysis. Deadline for submission is next December 8th 2019. MASTER participates in the Researcher's Night (BRIGHT) at CNR in Pisa and at NTUA in Athens, the night of September 27, 2019. In Pisa, the project coordinator Chiara Renso introduces the potentialities and issues in the collection and analysis of mobility data. We had a special focus on the analysis of Save and Rescue operations of vessels in the Mediterranean Sea, related to the migration phenomenon. The talk has been held in Italian for a non specialistic audience. Many attendees were citizen interested in better understanding mobility data. Part of the audience was young attendees from schools. In Athens, at the National Technical University of Athens, Nikos Pelekis and colleagues from our partner UPRC presented MASTER to a wide audience of interested attendees.
On September 16, 2019 we had our First MASTER workshop!The event has been held in conjunction with ECML-PKDD conference in Wurzburg, Germany. The main conference received an unexpected high number of participants this year, thus favouring a very good attendance to our Workshop!
